Ordination : 4th June 1957

  • Went to ROME to study Canon Law taking a ship at Mumbai on 8th September 1958

  • Returned in 1961 and taught in Kotagiri theologate till 1968

  • 1968 - 1969 : Pastoral Institute in the Archdiocese of Bhopal

  • 1969 went to the Lucknow Friary in North India as Superior

  • 1971 went to Itarsi to work with the Maltese Capuchin Friars.

  • 9th August 1975 received obedience from General Minister to join the Malstese Capuchin Mission as a official member.

  • In the Bhopal Mission he worked in Catholic Church, Panchmarhi, Sacred Heart Church Itarsi and was also the Archbishop's Secretary, and finally Vianney Sadan Bhopal until he volunteered to go to Turkey as missionary in the year 1997. He moved to Parma/Italy to get the visa for Turkey in 1997

  • From 1998 till his death, he was the member of the Custody of. Turkey under the Provinces of Parma and Emilia Romagna. He spend most of his time in the pilgrim Center of Meryem Ana Evi, Ephesus as a member of the Custody of Turkey.

  • He had a stroke in 2008 and was shifted to Bologna where he was recuperating in the Provincial Infirmary Went to his eternal reward on 14th September 2010 on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross in Bologna.

His funeral was held on 17th Sept. 2010 in Bologna..

Brother Tarcy Mathias was a very intelligent student, diligent professor and then very committed missionary. He remained faithful to his religious commitment throughout his life. If the Province now claims Bhopal as its mission, it is only because of Br. Tarcy Mathias who stood firmly as a missionary in Bhopal amidst all odds.
