A seminar on 'Religion, Power and Peace,' was held at Darshan Institute of Theology, the Capuchin Theologate in Bangalore on September 10, 2010. At the behest of Rev. Dr. Vincent G. Furtado, the Provincial Minister of the Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka,  Rev. Dr. Charles Furtado, the dean of studies of the Institute, organized the seminar successfully. The Famous social activist and eminent professor Mr. Ram Puniyani was the resource person for the seminar. He is a recipient of many awards. The Indira Gandhi  National Integration Award and National Communal Harmony Award,  being some of them.  He has authored many books and articles like Communal Politics, Dalits' Social Justice and Anti Christian Violence. He is the member of the EKTA committee in Mumbai. His mastery and elegance in his talks on the subject kept everyone hanging on to his lips all through the seminar. There were around 200 eager participants to listen to him.  Thanks to his informative and stimulating input sessions, we have become keenly aware of the evil designs and deceitful strategies of the communal forces like Hindutwa.  He also addressed the august audience on various issues related to the main theme of the seminar like communalism, agenda of communal organizations, politics of terrorism and the truth of conversions  etc.

The seminar was officially concluded by Rev. Dr. Baptist Rodriques, the rector of Darshan Institute of Theology by presenting a follow up for the institute and also for individual students  to fight the social evils that jeopardize the human, democratic and secularistic values.
