The historic event for the Capuchin Friars in INFANT JESUS DELEGATION, NAGALAND-MANIPUR took place on 17th & 18th November, 2010 at St. Peter' Friary Atoizu, Nagaland. The first Triennial Assembly of the Delegation was formally inaugurated on 17th Nov. 2010 morning with the lighting of the symbolic Lamp by Rev. Fr. Vincent G. Furtado, Minister Provincial, Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka and Provincial Delegate Rev. Fr. Augustine Claude D’Souza and his Councillors. The lighting ceremony was followed by the Solemn Eucharistic celebration presided by Rev. Fr. Provincial in which he gave a very inspiring homily basing on the Theology of Incarnation, thus setting the right tone for the two days long Assembly. What is laudable was that all the Ten perpetually professed friars working in the delegation were present for the celebration of the joyful assembly.

The day’s activities began with invocation of the Holy Spirit led by liturgical committee under the leadership of Brs. Thomas J.K. and Cyrial Anand Pereira followed by welcome address by Br. Augustine Claude D’Souza, the Provincial Delegate. But above all, the sessions of the assembly were set in motion with the introductory talk by Rev. Fr. Provincial in which he emphasised the need to fall in line with the call of General Minister’s Circular Fanning the Flame of our Charism specifically focusing on four characteristics of our charism viz. Minority, Contemplation, closeness to the people and renewal of life. In his talk he also touched briefly upon the theological perspective of Jesus’ Ministry and the universal nature of His Mission. Br. Provincial ended his short but well founded talk with a Franciscan note in which he exhorted the Friars in the Delegation to transcend all human barriers of all sort so as to serve the church effectively through continual formative life after the very example of our Founder St. Francis of Assisi. While Br. Provincial patiently presided the Assembly, the proceedings of the sessions were moderated in turns by three brothers namely; Brs. Santosh Menezes, Vincent Serrao and Mathias Dias.

At the sessions, the assembly discussed at length many issues, concerns, needs, plans and future course of actions which include spiritual aspects to material needs, pastoral activities to legal processes and many more things that pertains to our life in the delegation. Having had lots of sharing, interaction and consultations throughout the sessions, the Assembly business session came to a close with brothers unanimously voting for many important resolutions. Br. Mathias gave a heartfelt vote of thanks while Br. Augustine Claude D’Souza, the Provincial Delegate and Br. Provincial expressed their thanks and appreciation to the brothers in the Delegation. With this the Assembly came to an end.
