Inauguration of the Academic Year 2024-2025, at Darshan Institute of
Theology, Bangalore
Darshan Institute of Theology (DITh) began its Academic Year 2024–2025
with ‘Lectio Brevis’ on June 1, 2024. As a preparation for this event,
on the previous day we had the recollection talk delivered by Fr. Dr.
Denis Gabriel Veigas OFM Cap., the Rector of Darshan Institute of
Theology, speaking on the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of every
individual Christian. The inaugural day began with the Holy Eucharist at
9:00 a.m. presided over by Fr. Dr. Denis Gabriel Veigas OFM Cap., who
implored God’s Blessings on everyone. All the staff members
concelebrated the Holy Eucharist.
This was followed by the Tea and Refreshments. After the tea break, the
program of lectio brevis was held in the Conference Hall of the
Institute. This part of the program was compered by Bro. Rolson Veigas
OFM Cap., a second year student. All the Resident Staff members, Bro.
Nithesh James Nazareth OFM Cap. and Bro Roshwin Basteanv Lopes OFM Cap.,
the Student representatives, lit the lamp and inaugurated the program.
Bro. Melroy P. DSilva OFM Cap., presented his dissertation paper on the
Theme “Jesus, the Law completed, the Promise fulfilled and the Prophesy
made true: A Matthean approach”. Rev. Fr. Dr. Salvador Fernandes OFM
Cap., the Director of Franciscan Institute of Spirituality in India, who
is also a visiting professor of Sacred Scripture, released the Handbook
and Calendar of the New Academic Year. Rev Fr. Dr. Albert Lewis OFM
Cap., elaborated some of the precious directives and guidelines of the
Institute, that are to be followed during this academic year. He also
thanked all the staff, students, and visiting professors for their
unstinting support in the smooth functioning and running of the
Institute. Bro. Nithesh James Nazareth OFM Cap., officially welcomed the
seven freshers to the 1st Year of Theology at DITh. As the most
important part of the program, the professors briefed their subjects
that would be dealt with during the academic year. Finally, Fr. Dr.
Denis Gabriel Veigas OFM Cap., addressed everyone with his valuable
suggestions and guidelines. He wished both the staff and students good
luck and success for the upcoming academic year. The program was
concluded by singing the Anthem of the Institute.
