Lectio Brevis of the Academic Year 2022-23 at Darshan Institute of
Theology
The Academic Year 2022-2023 began with the solemn celebration of the
Holy Eucharist. The institute prayed for the blessings upon the upcoming
theological courses by invoking the grace of the Holy Spirit. Fr. Denis
Veigas OFM Cap., the Rector presided over the Eucharist. Along with all
the resident Professors of DITh, Fr. Andrew OSB from Benedictine’s
concelebrated the Eucharist.
Immediately after the refreshments, the staff and students gathered in
the conference hall for an inaugural function – Lectio Brevis. To
enhance the commencement of the Academic vibe Br. Joywin Dias OFM Cap.
was the resource person, who presented a paper titled: “Response of the
Church in India to the call from the peripheries: Insights from the life
and writings of Pope Francis”. The freshers were welcomed and the Rector
exhorted the brothers to excel in all their undertakings. The Director
of the Institute Fr. Albert Lewis OFM Cap., briefed about the guidelines
and directions pertaining to the theological studies of this year.
Thereafter, each professor briefed about their courses. With the singing
of Institute Anthem the Lectio Brevis was ended. The entire programme
was wonderfully compered by Br. Melroy D’Silva OFM Cap.
