6TH ASSEMBLY OF INFANT JESUS
DELEGATION EMPHASIZES FRANCISCAN TRADITIONS AND BROTHERHOOD
The 6th Assembly of the Infant Jesus Delegation of Nagaland-Manipur was held
from 14th to 15th July 2025, bringing together sixteen friars from various
units of the Delegation. The Assembly was marked by a spirit of fraternity,
reflection, and reaffirmation of the Franciscan charism.
The Assembly commenced on the morning of 14th July with the lighting of the
Easter Candle by Fr Robin Victor D’Souza, Provincial Minister of Holy
Trinity Province Karnataka, symbolizing Jesus as the light of the world and
the guiding presence in the life and mission of the friars. This was
followed by the Holy Eucharist, solemnly presided over by the Provincial
Minister. In his homily, Fr Robin Victor emphasized the oneness in Christ,
the Franciscan way of life, and the need to foster deeper brotherhood in
community living and mission. During the first session of the Assembly, Fr
Robin addressed the gathered friars, calling them to cherish, uphold, and
pass on the rich Franciscan traditions handed down by generations. He
stressed that amidst the changing times, the spirit of poverty, humility,
fraternity, and mission must remain central to the life of each friar.
Following the Provincial’s address, Fr Isaac Baptist Rodrigues, the
Provincial Delegate, presented the Triennial Report, giving a comprehensive
overview of the life, mission, formation, and apostolic activities of the
Delegation over the past three years. He highlighted the growth, challenges,
and opportunities in various mission centres and expressed gratitude for the
friars’ dedication and missionary zeal. The session continued with the
presentation of the financial report by the Delegation Treasurer, who
offered a transparent and detailed account of the income and expenditure of
the Delegation and its various units. The presentation encouraged open
discussion and a shared responsibility towards the wise and accountable use
of financial resources.
The friars then reviewed the agenda of the Assembly, which included
evaluation of current ministries, discussion on community life, formation,
vocation promotion, youth involvement, and missionary outreach. The assembly
served as a platform for collective discernment, mutual encouragement, and
future planning. The two-day Assembly concluded on 15th July 2025 with a
Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Fr David Sale, invoking God’s
continued blessings on the Infant Jesus Delegation and its mission. The
Assembly was marked by a spirit of collaboration, openness, and fraternity,
echoing the Franciscan call to walk joyfully and faithfully in the
footprints of Christ.
