The Annual Guardian’s Retreat, 18–22 August 2025
The Annual Guardian’s Retreat 2025 was held at Ashirvanam, Benedictine Monastery, Anchepalya, Bangalore, from 18–22 August 2025. The five-day spiritual encounter was meaningfully animated by Rev. Fr. Praveen D’Souza, OFM, who guided the participants into an enriching reflection on St. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians.

At the inaugural gathering, Br. Maxim D’Souza, Provincial Administrator, extended a warm welcome to the preacher and to all retreatants. Rev. Br. Robin Victor D’Souza, Provincial Minister, introduced the animator, while the Provincial Councillors expressed their fraternal greetings with a floral welcome.

Throughout the retreat, Fr. Praveen offered deeply introspective and thought-provoking insights, weaving together the themes of St. Paul’s letter with the richness of Franciscan spirituality and the wisdom of The Imitation of Christ. Each day, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated at noon, presided over by different friars, during which the preacher shared concise and inspiring homilies that illuminated the scriptural readings in harmony with the retreat theme.

Every evening Friars participated in the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, where the preacher led the gathering into meditation, and self-examination. These moments of prayer were indeed a time grace, renewing the friars in their commitment to Gospel living and reinvigorating their Franciscan Spirituality.

As the retreat drew to a close, Br. Robin Victor D’Souza, Provincial Minister, expressed heartfelt words of gratitude to the preacher for his spiritual accompaniment. Br. Richard Kadiwal then proposed the vote of thanks. The retreat concluded with the solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Praveen D’Souza, leaving the participants spiritually renewed and strengthened in fraternal communion.
