Feast of St. Clare
Celebrated at St. Clare Church, Akuluto
St. Clare Church, Akuluto, joyfully celebrated the Feast of St. Clare on
Sunday10th August 2025 with great devotion and enthusiasm. The Holy
Eucharist was solemnly presided over by Fr. David Sale, the Chief Celebrant.
The homily was delivered by Fr. Johnson Ayila, Parish Priest of St. Anthony
Church, Zunheboto, who reflected on the life, virtues, and inspiring example
of St. Clare.
The celebration was graced by the presence of several priests, including Fr.
Ashiko Abraham, Parish Priest of St. Peter Church, Atoizu; Fr. Sajimon,
Parish Priest of Queen Mary Church, Mokokchung; Fr. Regin CMI; Fr. Manoj
D’Souza, the newly elected Delegate of the Infant Jesus Capuchin Delegation,
Nagaland–Manipur; Fr. Paul Inashe, Parish Priest of St. Francis Church,
Lazami, along with community members from his parish; Fr. Gerald Viegas; Fr.
John Peter from the Capuchin House in Dimapur; and Fr. Brayan D’Souza,
Headmaster of Genesia School, Kuhuboto. Sisters from Atoizu and Mokokchung
also joined the celebration.
After the Holy Mass, Fr. Stephen D’Souza, Parish Priest of St. Clare Church,
felicitated the Chief Celebrant Fr. David Sale, the preacher Fr. Johnson
Ayila, and Delegate Fr. Manoj D’Souza. A short cultural programme followed,
coordinated by Mrs. Lika Chishi, featuring a choreography by the St. Clare
Hostellers and Catechism children. Mr. Vixeshe Peter, the Chairperson,
warmly welcomed everyone. The Delegate encouraged the faithful to support
the centre, and Mr. David, representing NU students, shared a few words. Fr.
Ashiko Abraham prayed over the meal.
Fr. Stephen D’Souza delivered a heartfelt thanksgiving address, appreciating
the tireless efforts of the Catholic community in arranging the decorations,
food, and other preparations. The celebration concluded with a sumptuous
fellowship meal, enjoyed by all.
