FEAST OF ST CLARE OF ASSISI IN ST CLARE CHURCH AKULUTO, NAGALAND
St Clare Catholic church celebrated the church feast on Sunday 27th August 2023. The Chancellor of Kohima Diocese and Secretary of CEDOK, Dr Fr Jacob Charalel officiated the thanksgiving mass. The professors and students of Nagaland University, St Clare school staff, some students of St Clare school and the catholic community of St Clare Church partook in the festal celebration. The mass was concelebrated by 13 Priests which included diocesan clergy and the Capuchins. Fr Isaac Swu Animator of Zunheboto Region and Parish Priest of Catholic Church Agunato, Fr Johnson Parish Priest of St Anthony Church, Zunheboto, Fr Sajimon, Parish Priest of Queen Mary Catholic Church Mokokchung were among the Diocesan clergy. The Capuchins were Frs Vincent Serrao and Gerald Lobo from Capuchin House Dimapur, Frs Brayan Dsouza and Joslie from St Thomas Church, Tamlu, Fr Yesudas from St Joseph’s Church Choithar, Manipur and Fr Santhosh from St Francis Church from Lazami. There were also religious sisters who partook in the holy event namely, Sr Cicila and community from Zunheboto, Sr Georgina and community from Atoizu, Sr Anna Mary and community from Lazami.

Fr Roshan Sequeira in his introduction for mass, described in brief inspiring life of St Clare of Assisi and welcomed all faithful for the Eucharistic celebration. Fr Jacob Charalel in his homily, beautifully explained the life of St Clare of Assisi. He also narrated several incidents where he had faced, several troubles while serving in the parishes. He encouraged everyone to face life and give witness to the life of Christ. On this occasion CYM Logo was blessed by the chief celebrant of the day.

There was a felicitation programme arranged at the end of the mass anchored by Ms Livika. The programme included welcome address by Sir Vikram, felicitation to Fr Jacob Charalel by Fr Stephen Parish Priest, St Clare Church Akuluto, Praise and worship dance by St Clare Hostellers, Special Number by NU Students, felicitation to all the fathers and sisters by catholic community of Akuluto, words of appreciation and encouragement by Fr Brayan the Delegation counsellor and on behalf NU students by Sir Albert and finally grace over the meal by Fr Yesudas. Immediately after the felicitation programme, sumptuous meal was offered to all the faithful, prepared by Akuluto Catholic community. Around 150 people participated in the festal celebration.
