Release of Fr. J. B. Sequeira’s Book ‘ASSISICHO ARSO’
Fr. J. B. Sequeira who was on his holidays in the province has published
a book in Konkani language. It contains a Konkani drama on the life of
St. Francis which he had written in 1976 when he was a student of
Theology in Kotagiri. It was then the occasion of 750th Death Centenary
of St. Francis of Assisi and a need of such a drama was felt in
Mangalore, to be the part of the celebrations that were planned for the
occasion that time. This drama was further staged a second time, at the
same Don Bosco Hall in 1981, on the occasion of the 800th Birth
Centenary of St. Francis.
Fr. J. B. now got this drama printed in a book form and it was released
by Fr. Paul Melwyn, the Provincial councillor. This event took place at
the shrine of Padre Pio in Mangalore on 16th September in the evening.
It was the first day of the Novena to St. Pio and after the Mass, in the
presence of the representatives of Franciscan sisters and of the Secular
Franciscan Order, the short function of releasing of the book took
place. Mr. C. G. Sequeira, the well known Konkani writer, who has
written the foreword to the book, spoke on the occasion. Fr. Derick Paul
D’Souza compered the programme.
