Academic visit from General Formation
Secretariat Rome, at Darshan Institute of Theology The Formation Commission from the General Curia, Rome, consisting of
Brs. Charles Alphonse, Jaime Rey, Albert D’Souza and John Paul were here
amidst us for the academic visitation of our formation house at Darshan
Institute of Theology, from June 14, 2016 to June 18, 2016. The purpose
of this visitation as highlighted by the commission was to evaluate the
quality of education that is imparted to the brothers in all our major
capuchin formation houses.
A well prepared questionnaire was handed for the brothers and the friars
to evaluate upon the performance and quality of education that is
imparted in our institute. All the brothers had to evaluate the
Professors and the professors on the other hand had to evaluate
themselves. On the following day Jaime Rey, clearly elucidated to us on
the very purpose of our formation. He highlighted the aspect of study.
We have to study with Franciscan Approach in a fraternal way. Study is
not a privilege but we study to serve others. He brought into account
the very name of our Friary, “Deena Seva” that is to serve.
All the brothers and the professors had a personal dialogue with the
members of the commission. In the Evening after the dinner we had common
Recreation with the whole team and our fraternity. A small cultural
program was given by our brothers. Jaime Rey also entertained us by
singing a Spanish song.
Jaime Rey spoke to us on the contemplative method for the Franciscans.
It is not about I speaking with Jesus but rather we should allow Jesus
to speak to us. Through the picture of San Damiano, he invited us only
to look to the eyes of Jesus and spend time in spiritual ambience.Fr.
Charles Alphonse also spoke to us on Psycho-sexual Affectivity and Fr.
Albert Dsouza guided us on the theme Sexual Abuse of the Minors. Vote of
thanks was raised by Fr. Albert Dsouza and thereafter Fr. Salvador
Fernandes the Rector of our Institute thanked the formation commission
for spending their valuable time with us and guiding us to bloom in the
true Franciscan spirit as Friars Minor.
