Inauguration – Mass of the Holy Spirit
– Lectio Brevis at Darshan Institute of Theology Bengaluru: 2016 -17 The inauguration of the academic year 2016-17 of Darshan Institute
of Theology was held on 2nd of June in Darshan Institute of Theology
Bengaluru. It was indeed a wonderful program right at the beginning of
the scholastic year since it was well planned by the newly appointed
Dean of Studies Br. Albert Lewis, OFM, Cap.
We began the day with the Morning Prayer at 6 am praying not just for
happiness throughout the year but the grace to do whatever is pleasing
in God’s sight. Thereafter, we celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit at
9 am, praying for God’s spirit. Br. Dolphy Pais, the Provincial Minister
of the Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka along with eleven Confreres,
especially Fr. Jerome, the abbot of Ashirvanam and Fr. Joel the Rector
of Roseminian Seminary who was the main celebrant of the day. In his
homily he emphasized on spiritual plan based on Beatitudes for this
year.
Lectio Brevis was held at 10.30 am in the conference hall. The Inaugural
Lecture was delivered by Br. Jeevan Walter D’Souza OFM, Cap. “Poor
Church for the Poor”- A Pastoral perspective of Pope Francis was the
theme of his presentation. In it he expressed poverty of the flesh of
Christ, poor as the sacrament of Christ, poor are the treasures of the
Church, in the face of the poor we see the face of Christ etc.
Thereafter, the handbook and calendar of the year 2016-17 was released
by Br. Provincial. The dean of studies expressed his gratitude and gave
some guidelines along with formative information. Once this was done the
professors who were present expecially Br. Anil Sequira, Br. Patrick
Crasta, Br. Baptist Rodrigues, and Br. Basil Joseph, introduced their
subjects and classes to the audience briefly. At the end of the program
the Rector of Theologate, Br. Salvodor Fernandes expressed his
sentiments of gratitude for all the work done.
