Feast Of Portiuncula at St
Ann's Friary St Ann’s Friary was soaked in the festal cheer on 02 August 2016, as we
celebrated the feast of our Lady of Angles- Portiuncula. The solemn
Eucharist in the evening was presided over by Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul
dsouza, the Bishop of the Mangalore Diocese and was concelebrated by a good
number of guest priests from near and far along with the Superior Fr Melwyn
and all the community members. The Eucharistic Celebration was further
embellished by the meaningful homily by Fr Chethan, Capuchin who through his
preaching helped us to recall our childhood days that were spent on the
bosom of our mothers. He invited all us of to take the inspiration from St
Francis of Assisi, for whom this Chapel of Portiuncula was a cradle of
wisdom, knowledge and devotion. The soulful choir was rendered by the St
Ann’s Choir group guided ably by Fr Jawahar. After the Holy Eucharist Rev.
Bishop Aloysius was felicitated for his selfless service to the diocese.
Rev. Fr Paul Melwyn introduced the new community of St Ann’s to all the
faithful. He also shared the information regarding the service rendered by
the capuchins in the Diocese of Mangalore and gratefully remembered
everyone, especially, the benefactors, domestic staff and our extended
family that is ‘the Core Committee members of Divine Mercy Retreat Centre’
who along with Fr Lancy Rebello helped us to cook the festal food. Fr
Manohar thanked all the guests and the gathered faithful and Fr Maxim Dsilva
compèred the whole program. All the guests were served with a sumptuous
dinner. Costal special ‘Vorn – Paisam’ was the highlight of the evening.
